Note: Somehow I should have known what I would write for this prompt would be depressing. -_-;; A-and is it me or am I not having too much fun with parenthesis? |D;;
FULL TABLE
The lights are all off. The windows are all open inviting the cool summer breeze in. The door is unlocked. A visitor is expected but there won’t be any tonight. He should know by now he’s not there anymore. Yet he sits on the wooden chair looking out through the open door. Waiting.
The green eyes continue to stare at the sky steadily. They shouldn’t be expecting anything. They should be looking around the house, trying to figure out whether it’s all a lie or not (take value of what’s been left to him). But they can’t. They ignore the surroundings and continue to stare out the door.
He’s not broken.
Seven days. A whole week had gone by since… that night. Subaru wanted to say that he wasn’t holding onto that little shred of hope that maybe he had dreamt it all. No, hope had become a dangerous thing for him.
The eyes close away from the beautiful scenery outside (no stars out tonight just flowers) and the silence reigns ever louder. A vague thought runs across the mind of whether stars could be seen in the lights of Tokyo. No, they probably wouldn’t, not even the marks-
Gone.
He stopped and opening his eyes he looked down at his hands once more. No, not even that. Lifting up the hand in question he stared at it, scrutinizing its pale starkness against the strange darkness all around.
He sat there still, watching the night sky grow darker, clouds rolling in (there would be a storm tonight- everything would get wet if the windows weren’t closed). He didn’t know how long he sat there staring towards the outside-
Still no stars.
A body sits up with all the comfortable furnishings forgotten; windows are all open, doors unlocked. No one comes. No one watches.
He is awake- green eyes once innocent and happy no longer shining. He does not shiver from the cold or the rain sweeping in- (all sign of feeling swept from him since that day). He does not even flinch when a gust of wind carries the sakura petals inside.
The storm ends. The house is still silent. And he is still alone.
