Title: Stolen
Author: DayDreamer64/ MadWanderer
Fandom: Tokyo Babylon/ X/1999
Pairing: SeixSub with mentions of Hokuto and Kamui.
Genre: Angst
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 406
Summary: And in the end- he’s all by himself.
Note: One of the two entries I’m entering for
mithrigil and
puella_nerdii’s “Shut Sumeragi Subaru Up!” challenge- and both were written in under an hour and were roughly edited- thus I think they are made of crap. Except for the second one, which I blame on the randomness of my brain. XDD
It’s funny Subaru thinks. In some twisted, sickening way- it’s funny. Things aren’t supposed to end like this. Thousands of generations and bloodshed between two opposite clans and it all comes down to this (two opposites in clan, destiny and characters). The thirteenth Sumeragi Head clan willing to die by the hand of one of the Sakurazukamori clan- this wasn’t how his ancestors would have wanted it- they would have preferred a bigger battle, more injuries and complete hatred between the two. But there wasn’t, at least not on Subaru’s part.
Indifference. Subaru could never understand it. Even as a child he often wondered how people could go on living knowing people died. How could people just… cease to care about the misfortune of others? Before he had grown to accept it even if he didn’t like it (someone once told him, things like this happen all over the city). But this nonchalance was different. This one hurt him too much and there was only so much someone could take.
Death shouldn’t be something to look forward to. If his sister could see him now… she’d be angry. She’d try to put an end to this. Isn’t that what she had died for? Trying to save him and let him live? But she wasn’t here anymore and it wasn’t what he wanted (not everyone could be happy). He wanted death and the only one he wanted it from was from the one person who would never see him.
He could feel his senses sharpen as he met Seishirou for one last time in their battle (he could sense the other Dragons of Heaven gathering around him- Kamui…). The hand striking the other was stained with blood and aimed with perfect precision. But it wasn’t his heart, it wasn’t his blood; he wasn’t the one who was dying. The smoke didn’t have to clear for him to see- he already knew.
But he still listened. The words coming from Seishirou’s mouth seemed so outside of him. Yet he still asked, he wanted to know why (unexpected reasons that made no sense with his own). And then the last reason was given and it shattered him and the world he had built perfectly around himself. The last thing he could say slipped automatically without thought until all the reason was gone from him. His whole world had been taken from him and all he could do was cry.
